November 16th 2022 volunteer day – island restoration

Todays team gather ready to tackle another exiting expedition into the depths of Anglers Park
Off we go with our equivalent of The Golden Hinde.
We will be clearing vegetation on the bank of the shallows …….
Clearing excess growth on the islands in preparation for next year’s nesting season.
…. and picking litter from the front of the main hide. Note the cycle inner tube – I never would have thought any cyclist would be so uncaring !!
The team receive tools and guidance instructions.
On the way we came across plenty of dog’s vomit slime mould …..
….. big sheath mushroom (?) ……..
….. parrots waxcap ……
…… and milkcaps.
Captain Pete and the explorers suit up in llifesaveing gear ready to cross our perillous “strait of Magellan” to the islands beyond.
Sharon and friends enjoy the Christopher Columbus experience of stepping ashore on strange new lands.
Sue (aka Kate Winslett) enjoying her own Titanic moment. Leonardo has obviously already legged it.
Great to be joined by Virginia (centre) today.
In all a great result, the islands receive a well needed clean up.
