Sunday, May 5th 2024  Spring Chorus Bird-Walk 8.00 -10.00 am.  Meet at Anglers Park Discovery Centre. £2 fee for non-members, dogs on leads, always check our website – www.fohpww.co.uk (Upcoming events) for updates before leaving home.  Bring your cameras, binoculars, note books let’s see if we can spot more birds than we did last year!

Sunday, September 8th, 2024 09:30. Small mammal survey. Join us for a couple of hours small mammal surveying. We will be joined by Ann Hanson from Yorkshire Farming and Wildlife . We will use Longford small mammal traps containing food and bedding to capture any voles, shrews, mice and other creatures that may come along. We will inspect and weigh them before returning our little friends back to their natural habitat.

Wednesday, September 18th. 2024. Volunteer session 10.00 am – 1200. Meet at Anglers Park Discovery Centre. Free 30 day/monthly-parking permit (for task-day volunteers only, terms and conditions apply).  Just bring appropriate outdoor working clothes. Tools provided. Refreshments provided.

Wednesday, October 2nd 2024. Bat walk.  Anglers visitors centre. Time will be given when booking. Join us for a couple of hours of bat world mystery and adventure. Ranger Sue Worrall will lead the event. We will use bat detectors so you will see, hear and learn to identify the local bat species. Bring a torch. Weather permitting.  Please note that a small donation of £2 is requested from non-members for the walks, children (accompanied by an adult) free.  Dogs on leads. PLEASE NOTE IT IS ESSENTIAL TO PRE-BOOK YOUR PLACE ON THIS EVENT BY CALLING THE VISITOR CENTRE ON 01924 860280. 

Sunday, October 13th 2024 10:00am Fungi Foray. Meet at the Anglers Park visitors centre. Our event will be led by Hiram Wildgust & Francis Hickenbottom on an excursion to find and identify the various types of fungi growing in our local habitat.
Please note that a small donation of £2 is requested from non-members for the walks, children (accompanied by an adult) free.  Dogs on leads.

Sunday, June 1st 2025. Beekeepers event from 10:00am. Meet at Anglers Park Discovery Centre for an insight into the wonderful world of bees. The event will be led by Mark Buckley from Yorkshire Beekeepers. A glass beehive will be on display to allow for non-intrusive observation. There will also be honey for tasting!

Sunday, June 29th 2025  Butterfly and Moth event from 10.00am. Meet at Anglers Park Discovery Centre. We will be joined by Les Driffield from Yorkshire Butterfly Conservation for butterfly and moth spotting.  Bring your cameras, binoculars and note books.
